According to the Real Gm site, new Trailblazer Greg Oden will miss US training camp for the second year (last year: broken wrist) and may lose a chance at Olympic play in '08.
This is not a huge surprise since Oden just had his tonsils out July 14 and left summer league in Las Vegas after an unstellar two games. However, none of us really work well being sick, so I was happy to see him just go home and get well.
Being the new IT boy in the league has its drawbacks; his schedule from draft day forward was basically non-stop. He will also have to adjust to the fast-approaching 82 game regular schedule. So I say, don't squander your off season. Playing for one's country is an honor. But not at your health's expense.

Having your tonsils may be a big deal, but I also hope he's not at the end of the bench, if he's going to have owies all the time. I just don't want a repeat of 1984, if you get my drift.
I completely agree! He's played the tonsil card now. He's had time to rest up. No more excuses.
